First introduce about 20 adjectives for comparing animals. Opposites are good for example: fast/slow, big/small, dangerous/friendly, beautiful/ugly, delicious/disgusting, etc.. Make sure they undertand how to form superlatives buy adding "est" or using "most" as the case may be, then spread out a bunch of picture cards of various animals. Write on the whiteboard- The_______is the _________. (The tiger is the most dangerous.) Then have students take turns (in pairs or small groups) filling in the blanks. As the students use the adjectives, cross them out so that they can't be used again. After a few minutes erase the whiteboard. Next introduce comparatives in the same way only this time use only two animals at a time. The _________ is __________ than the_____________. (The cockroach is dirtier than the duck.)

          This activity is a good chance to teach spelling and animal vacabulary as well.
